    Rosa Alba short Curriculum Vitae

I received my degree in Physics from Catania University in 1978 and, after a short working experience in an hospital and a specialization course at Bologna University, I obtained the qualification of Expert in radiation protection.

In 1981 I was engaged by INFN to design the radiological safety system and to coordinate the radioprotection procedures of the newborn Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS). In parallel, I started my experimental activity in nuclear physics. My fields of interest span from nuclear structure and reaction dynamics to nuclear astrophysics. I have studied the hot giant dipole resonance properties, investigated the possibility of identifying suitable probes for different phases of heavy ion reactions, measured cross sections of interest for Astrophysics using stable and unstable beams. I have performed experiments in Italian and foreign Laboratories and I have coordinated several research projects. Also, I have been strongly involved in the design and realization of the MEDEA multi-detector array, operating at LNS and recently upgraded.

My present position is Research Director (Dirigente di Ricerca) and I am author of about 120 papers in international journals and conference proceedings.

    • Member of the Third INFN National Scientific Committee (Coordinator of Nuclear Physics activities of LNS) (2001-2007)
    • Member of the INFN evaluation working group (2004-present)
    • Member of the Steering Committee of the SPES (Selective Production of Exotic Species) INFN special project (2007 – present)
