    Reading a paragraph in RSVP allows one to understand the gist but not the details. This paragraph was deliberately written by H. Intraub to be puzzling if you do not know the topic, which is not mentioned until the last sentence. That is why we suggest that you read it a second time, when you should have no trouble understanding it. (Potter, Kroll, & Harris, 1980)
